Aerotek: Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description: They need one or more people to triage customer issues.

This is to help them provide initial quick feedback to customers, ensure we can reproduce the issue, and queue further investigation/root-cause to the rest of the development team.

This person needs to have great communication skills (to interact with the system Engineering team to clarify issues) as well as a strong skillset for debugging at a system level.

In addition, they need one or more people to deep-dive into customer issues.

Once they have triaged customer issues, it often takes a fair amount of investigation and effort to root-cause a problem and provide a solution (or ask our chipset provider for a solution).

They also often have requests from customers to provide a detailed root-cause analysis (RCA), which can be time consuming.

This person needs to have good communication skills (to articulate/summarize the root-cause analysis, usually in a PPT slide or PDF) and also very good debugging skills.

In other words, they have a system engineering team.

One level removed.

System eng team is reporting issues, make sure the bugs are clarified, be able to reproduce issue.

Biggest issue is usually being able to reproduce the issue and then root cause.

Very much a developer role who has a keen sense of system level debugging, narrow down where a problem might be.

Looking to root cause and provide solution.

We have a large backlog of issues they need to go through, need to be able to reproduce them, need to root cause and fix them.

A ticket comes in, push it on the developer, make sure the information is clear, try to understand severity, come up with a solution.
